Scottsbluff High School SkillsUSA Chapter students competed in the 2023 SkillsUSA Nebraska Championships winning big with students placing in a several events. The state competition held in Grand Island saw over 1,600 students from across the state who competed in over 140 career and technical competitions, including architecture & construction, arts, audio/video technology, business management & administration, education, health science, public safety, hospitality & tourism, leadership, manufacturing, science, technology, engineering & math, information technology, transportation, and more.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. The organization serves middle school, high school, and college students in programs preparing them for technical, skilled, and service careers. The following Scottsbluff High School students placed at the State Conference:
- Jaron Lambertson, Kyra Brannan, and Dien Nguyen - 2nd Place in Crime Scene Investigation
- James Kihlthau - 2nd Place in Diesel Equipment Technology
- Jacob Green - 2nd Place in Metric 500 Jr., and 3rd Place in Drone Technology Basic
- Cameron Kinsey - 2nd Place in Metric 500 Sr.
- Meg Imhof - 3rd Place in Medical Terminology
- Keaton Kovarik - 3rd Place in Metric 500 Jr. and 3rd Place in Drone Technology Basic
In addition to these impressive individual achievements, the Scottsbluff High School Skills USA Chapter was awarded the Quality Chapter Award. Furthermore, Scottbsluff High School is pleased to announce that Rod Bussinger, SHS Skills USA Advisor, was named State Advisor of the Year.
SkillsUSA Nebraska Championships is a showcase of students who have worked throughout the year improving their skills and exploring their future careers in the technical trades. All contests run with the help of industry, trade associations, and labor organizations, and test competencies set by national industry standards.
