SHS Educators Rising Members Place at National Competition

Five Scottsbluff High School Educators Rising Chapter Members attended the the 2024 Educators Rising National
Conference from June 28 through July 1, 2024 at the Marriott Marquis in Washington D.C.  Rebecka Peterson, 2023 National Teacher of the Year from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was the
keynote speaker for the Opening General Session, and Dr. Amy Loyd, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the U.S. Department of Education, served as the keynote speaker during the Member Recognition Luncheon.

One of the highlights of the conference, is competing in the national contests and competitions. With over 2,000 students competing, 86 from Nebraska, Scottsbluff High School was pleased to have one duo place in the national competition.

Karli Knaub & Mikaylah Garcia placed 5th in Children's Literature K-3, Junior Varsity Division (9th-10th grade).  In this event, students prepare an original short story book format designed for a K-3 audience.  Students must write all words and create all illustrations for the book. 

Educators Rising is a Nebraska Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps ensure students interested in a career in education have the experience and skills they need to be ready for the classroom.
