Nebraska Music Education Association Honors BMS 8th Grade Band

Mr. Evan Lee, NMEA President-Elect, is proud to announce that The Bluffs Middle School 8th Grade Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Michael A. Koch, has been named as one of the performing groups at the 2018 Nebraska Music Education Association (NMEA) Convention.  The band was selected by a committee, appointed by NMEA, from an audition recording submitted last spring.  They are one of 12 ensembles (both vocal and instrumental) that have been chosen as NMEA Honor Groups.

This is the second time that a band from Bluffs Middle School has been chosen to perform for the Nebraska Music Education Association Convention. (The BMS Eighth Grade Band was also chosen to perform at the NMEA Convention in 2002 and the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association Conventions in 2000 and 2016.)  The NMEA Convention will be held November 14 – 16 on the campus of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.  The BMS Eighth Grade Concert Band will be performing in the Kimball Recital Hall at 10:30 a.m. (CST) on Friday, November 16, 2018.  The concert is open to the public and free of charge.

The band will have a pre-performance concert (featuring the music that will be played at the convention) before we leave for Lincoln.  The BMS Eighth Grade Concert Band CONCERT will be held on Tuesday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the BMS Cafetorium.  This concert is also free and open to the public.
