Effective Instruction

Roosevelt offers supplemental curriculum programs to support the needs of our students. iRead, E.L. Achieve and Academic ToolKit are used daily to support early literacy skills and language development for all students.

iRead Logo iRead is designed to close the achievement gap early and place all K-2 children on a predictable path to reading proficiently by grade 3.  The program offers personalized learning progression for each student with assessments built in that ensure mastery of skills.  Teachers receive real time data that allows for reteaching of skills or enrichment based on student need.  The program also offers a parent student portal so that families can track student progress and students can use the program at home.

EL Achieve Logo  E.L. Achieve is used to assist educators in equipping English learners for academic achievement. Because the work of increasing English learner success must be collective and sustained, E.L. Achieve takes a system-wide approach and focuses on long-term collaborative planning and implementation.

Academic Vocabulary Toolkit Academic Vocabulary Toolkit teaches students in grades 3, 4, and 5 to master high-use academic words aligned with state standards.  The program uses a five-day instructional sequence which moves from structured partner interactions to increasingly complex constructed written responses. Reading and writing is practiced using framed and original academic responses.
