Longfellow Elementary provides a safe and caring
environment that offers a positive, supportive learning community. Longfellow has implemented building and
classroom rules and procedures through ACES and PBIS to provide an environment
that is nurturing and safe. Students
begin their day in the gymnasium at Morning Meeting where we join together to
Pledge Allegiance to the flag, celebrate accomplishments and special events,
and pledge to be safe, respectful, and responsible through the Longfellow
Pledge. Teachers continually recognize
students for their positive efforts and accomplishments. Students who model behaviors of being safe,
respectful, responsible, and positive learning habits in the classroom are
recognized at Morning Meeting with a Star Student award.
Our educational team generates a healthy sense of self
and personal success. Our school
counselor provides opportunities for students to work in friendship groups and
social skills activities to support positive peer interactions. All adults in the building are caring and
helpful to students. Hallways,
playgrounds, the cafeteria, and restrooms are carefully monitored to provide a
safe, secure environment for students.
The nursing office is staffed with an RN and a CNA to provide to
students regarding health situations.
Teachers provide instruction that will enhance student
engagement in the classroom. Instruction
is meaningful and relevant and provides opportunities for students to be
successful. The classroom environment is a place that provides structure and
support for students to feel safe to take risks and express themselves to be
successful academically, socially, and emotionally.
