Ms. Aye

Hi, and welcome to the exploratory classes, Teen Life I, II, and III and "Just Words Reading". The best part about my job here at BMS is that I get to know kids from all three grades. I believe that education is the key to achieving our goals and dreams, while good writing, reading and speaking skills are paramount in the digital age.  I hope we can all team together for a successful year!!!

Previously I taught 7th-grade language arts on the Arctic Cat team for six years, and for the past three years, I have been lucky enough to teach teen life and reading classes. years.  My background includes a B.S. from the University of Northern Colorado in business administration and a post-baccalaureate teaching certificate with a minor in music. I am in my 18th year of teaching and my tenth at Bluffs Middle School.

My schedule does not always allow me to return phone calls quickly, but I will return them as soon as I can.  Also, I can always be reached by email which is raye@sbps.net

There is not a set curriculum for Teen Life, which can be a good thing.  For instance, in addition to the regular teen life topics, we may often talk about issues in the news or a topic trending on social media.  Journal entries are a daily thing, but they will be posted as a question on your Chromebooks in the classroom app.   A large part of your grade will be based on participation as we discuss and read a lot.  That means I need to see that you are engaged and hear you add to the conversation each day. We also will have a few writing assignments along with some public speaking practice.  (Don't be scared....it is actually fun.)

As for "Just Words" Reading.- I love this new program.  You will be provided with everything you need, except for a pencil. Grades will be based on the amount of growth shown, and all most all the work will be done in class.

The easiest way to contact me is via email at raye@sbps.net.  I will get back to you as soon as I can.
