Ms. Ruthanne Aye Aye

Hello and welcome to English Language Arts for the 2019-2020 school year. I am excited to be teaching language arts again after a four-year hiatus teaching an exploratory course.  Previously I  taught language arts for seven years at BMS and 6-8 reading for two years.  I believe that education is the key to achieving our goals and dreams, while good writing, reading and speaking skills are paramount in the digital age.  As you probably know the ELA curriculum at BMS is a program entitled "Wit and Wisdom".  Although this course is rigorous, "Wit and Wisdom" incorporates reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills into a daily, fast paced program using material that appeals to adolescents but still contains the desired content and goals for 21st century leaders.  Most of our work in class will be done with "good, old-fashioned" paper and pencil, but we will also be using the students' Chromebooks from time to time. Students will also have their own workbooks for each module; a module will be approximately one quarter in length. My planning time is second period (8:43 a.m. - 9:33 p.m.), and I can be reached at my email address (raye@sbps.net) or by calling the school office and leaving a message with one of the secretaries to return your call. Please see the required materials on this page to know what your student will be needing for language arts.

My background includes a B.S. from the University of Northern Colorado in business administration and a post-baccalaureate teaching certificate with a minor in music. I am in my 19th year of teaching and my eleventh at Bluffs Middle School.

I look forward to working with you and your 8th grader.  Please contact me with your concerns or questions at any time.  Also if there is something you feel I should know about your student please communicate that with me.  Our team learder, Mr. Hayhurst will be posting notices on "REMIND" for the Tiger team when students have homework or you need to know of upcoming events.

It is my pleasure to be working with your student this year on the Tiger team.  Thank you for the opportunity!
