Welcome to the Panther team at BMS!
My Name is Kira Holloway and this will be my 10th year teaching, my 2nd year teaching at BMS, and my 3rd year teaching for the district. In the 2018/2019 school year I taught 5th grade at Lincoln Heights and chose to take a year off to stay home with my son. This year I will be starting at the end of the first quarter because my husband and I welcomed a new baby girl to the family at the end of July. As much as I am loving the time home with my little girl, I am so excited to meet and work with all of you! I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona where I attended Arizona State University and received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education as well as my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specific focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders. I taught in Phoenix for 7 years before moving to Scottsbluff in 2018. Before moving to the area, I also became a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Early Adolescent Math. I have taught math to grade levels ranging from 3rd to 8th grade but I have a special place in my heart for teaching middle school students...specifically 8th grade.
I am beyond excited for the schoolyear. We will be utilizing the amazing resources this district has to offer to help all students have a safe and successful schoolyear. We will continue to use the Illustrative Math Curriculum this school year and will utilize the McGraw-Hill interface.
