School Climate Transformation Grant
In October of 2019, Scottsbluff Public Schools was awarded a mulit-year, $2.3 million dollar Federal School Climate Transformation Grant from the United States Department of Education. This is the largest federal grant award received to date by SBPS. The grant's purpose is to help school districts develop, support, enhance and expand initiatives for improving overall school climate.
A message about the School Climate Project
Jamie Batterman, School Climate Project Director
Our goal to reach "Every Child, Every Day, Everyday" is clear. Though our ongoing implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), SBPS strives to create a safe, supportive school climate for all of our students. Grant dollars will fund professional development and training in the areas of trauma-formed practices, diversity, restorative practices, socio-emotional learning, drug and alcohol individual and group counseling, and universal screening to identify behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs. Data will be utilized to monitor and track interventions and their impact.
