Mrs. Stolen's Kindergarten Class
Yesterday the district held an online meeting and I really feel they are doing their best to fulfill the district goal of serving Every Child, Every day. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask me through Remind, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or contacting the district through email email@example.com or phone 308.635.6200. Even though I am not meeting your child at school I am still available! I am working from home and have time dedicated each day towards you and your child's learning. Do not hesitate to reach out!
This friday I will be sending out the first week of e-learning. These will always come out on Fridays. Again if you have any questions about e-learning or if you would like my help, I am here.
I love seeing updates from the students as well, I miss them and enjoy seeing their work.
Also if you know of any parents in our class (or in the schools) who are not connected with Remind please encourage them to sign up. This is the main way I and the district will communicate.
Parent teacher conferences are still happening, you should be receiving your child’s report card in the mail soon. I will contact you today letting you know of your time slot. I will be calling during that time slot for your conference from an out of state number but it's the phone number assigned to me from Remind. Feel free to save it to your contacts. I know this is a lot of information all at once! The main takeaway is that I’m here, and I’m still your child’s teacher. I know this is a difficult time but my hope is that my families never feel alone or frustrated.
Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Whitney Stolen and I am a first year teacher at Lincoln Heights in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. I live here in Scottsbluff with my husband Brandan, I have lived in the Eastern Wyoming/Panhandle area all my life. I love spending time with family, especially during the fall when we can all get together and watch football. Go Pack!
I love kids and being in the classroom. I first knew I wanted to teach when I helped out with an afterschool program my senior year of high school. I graduated from Chadron with a Bachelor of Science in Education in May of 2019. I have worked as a para within the SBPS district since 2014 and completed my student teaching at Lincoln Heights during the 2018-2019 school year. Kindergarten is my passion and I am truly excited to put my whole heart into teaching.

About My Classroom
This year our class focus will be "Sticking Together". For some students kindergarten will be the first time they are away from family for extended periods of time. My goal is to create a positive community atmosphere within our classroom, building relationships as we learn to give students a bright beginning to education.
Our reading and writing curriculum this school year will be Wit and Wisdom from Great Minds. This is a wonderful curriculum that builds student knowledge in science, and social studies through engaging texts and deep discussion. Our phonics curriculum will be Fundations from Wilson Language Training. Our Math curriculum will be both Bridges in Mathematics and Number Corner from the Math Learning Center.
My support staff, Emily Butler (Miss Butler), is amazing and has a huge heart for kids. I am very grateful for all she does to keep our classroom running smoothly.
