Mr. Francis J. Ibero, Director of Bands Scottsbluff High School

Frank Ibero began his teaching career in the fall of 2000 and began as the Director of Bands at Scottsbluff High School in the fall of 2002. He assists with the 6th and 7th Grade Concert Bands at BMS. Mr. Ibero is also responsible for conducting the marching band, concert band, and jazz band at Scottsbluff High School. Prior to coming to Scottsbluff, Mr. Ibero taught in Ravenna, Nebraska.

He received a B.A. degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney (2000) with an emphasis in K-12 Music Education and a M.A. in Music Education also from University of Nebraska at Kearney (2008).

Under his direction, Scottsbluff High School bands have consistently earned Superior and Excellent Ratings. In addition, He has been an active adjudicator the past twelve years at marching contests, conference solo and large ensemble contests, and district music contest.

He is a member of Nebraska State Bandmasters Association, Nebraska Music Educators Association, and National Association for Music Education. In his spare time, Frank enjoys reading, running, geocaching, and spending time with his family, Shannon his wife, his daughter Ashlyn, and son Riley.

    Varsity Band Letters

    Band members who go above and beyond the classroom expectations can earn points toward a varsity letter. Points are earned in a variety of ways including but not limited to summer rehearsal attendance, extra performances, performing with extra instrumental ensembles, taking private lessons, extra service to the band, etc.

    Posted below is the information flyer for the Yankee Candle Fundraiser. We are doing ONLINE sales ONLY! If you had already taken a few catalog orders, please return their payment to them (maintaining safe social distancing) and explain that due to the current school closure we have moved to an online only sale. Thank them for their support and ask them if they would consider changing their order to an online order. All online orders are shipped directly to the buyers. Let me know if you have any questions.

    We are looking for more students to step up and help out in the following committees:

    Hospitality and Public Relations (helping to plan band group activities/parties/movie nights etc., work on designing extra band shirts and other accessories, help with getting announcements out about concerts and events, recruiting, work with the band parent foundation for support of band activities)

    Band Managers (help with the setup, maintenance, and overall care of the equipment in and around the band room)

    Music Librarians (help to take care of music, folders, pep band binders, etc. throughout the year)

  • BAND MEMBERS SHOULD BE PREPARING AND WORKING ON THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS (all materials are posted on Google Classroom):

    The week of 5/1/2020-5/7/2020:

    TUESDAY, May 5th class meetings via Zoom during regular class time, 7:45-8:30 for 1st-hour band, 8:35-9:20 for 2nd-hour percussion techniques. Zoom link is posted on Google calendar.

    1st-hour Band-

    ASSIGNMENTS FOR WEEK OF 5/1/2020-5/7/2020:

    1. Weekly check-in question (attendance for the class meeting). This will be posted in Google classroom on 5/5/2020 and will be due on 5/5/2020 (10 points)

    2. Practice your instrument for at least 10 minutes a day on 5 different days using Smart Music. You can practice more than that amount of time but 10 min. on 5 different days is a minimum. You can earn extra credit for practicing beyond 10 minutes each day. Extra credit will be given for every 10 minutes extra up to 30 minutes each day (4 extra points) with a possibility of earning 20 extra points each week. (due on 5/7/2020) (10 points)
    In Smart Music you should work on:
    -"Foundations" method book
    -"Infinite Horizon or "Endless Rainbows" (DUE 5/7/2020)(20 point assessment grade)
    - Your Personal Project piece (DUE 5/11/2020) (20 point assessment grade)

    3. Record and turn in "Infinite Horizon or "Endless Rainbows" in Smart Music. Strive to achieve a score of 95% or better before submitting your final recording. (DUE 5/7/2020)

    ASSIGNMENTS FOR WEEK OF 5/1/2020-5/7/2020:

    1. Weekly check-in question (attendance for the class meeting). This will be posted in Google classroom on 5/5/2020 and will be due on 5/5/2020 (10 points)

    2. Practice 10-15 minutes a day for 5 days. Use your "Five Minute Drill" or "Nine Minute Drill" book to review skills on the practice pad. Do what you can for mallets, if you have a bell set at home. Practice tracks should still be posted on Google Classroom. Be prepared to play something on video in our class meeting this Tuesday.

    3. Vic Firth Percussion 101: Timpani Module. The assignment was posted on 4/24 and is due 5/7/2020. Check the classwork tab to review and complete the assignment. (30 points)

     

Marching Band Drill Sheets

  • Updated coordinate sheets and full size drill charts will be posted here throughout the season. Files will only be available for 48 hours. Please download and save the files to your own computer and then print off the needed charts or coordinate sheet. ***With the coordinate sheets please search for your own assigned drill coordinate and print off only the 1 page you need.
