Welcome to German

  • Willkommen! I am a graduate of the University of Texas @Arlington with a degree in German and English. I have been teaching German at SHS since 1992. Currently, I am teaching German II, III, and IV and Senior English, but I have taught all levels over the past 27 years. I have taken student groups to Europe in the past. I love teaching at SHS and couldn't think of a better place to be!

I am also the director of the SHS drill team, sponsor for German Club, and a huge fan of our Bearcats!

During this time of change and anticipation of long term E-Learning, please feel free to email me at ahinze@sbps.net with any questions regarding the continuation of your German and English studies.  We are all in this together!

  • Watch for upcoming German Club activities! Get involved and have some fun! The SHS German Club is open to all students of German. The German IV officers plan a monthly activity that centers around culture, food and fun! It is a great way to participate at Scottsbluff High School.

  • Students have the syllabus and classroom expectations in the front of their German notebooks.

Class Projects

  • German IV will be venturing out into the community to apply their speaking skills in the target language.  They will be visiting Riverside Discovery Center, The Veteran's Home, West Nebraska Arts Center, and other appropriate community activities. They will also perform a play in both German and English for an audience at either the elementary schools or BMS.  This gives students in the district the opportunity to see the German language in action.
