Ms. Jamie Batterman
Hello! I am Ms. Jamie Batterman. I have been an educator for 13 years and this is my 5th year here at Scottsbluff High School. Go Bearcats!
I am a graduate of Bridgeport High School and Chadron State College. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. I hold endorsements in Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Education, and Special Education. I completed a graduate degree in Curriculum and Development with a Career and Technical Education concentration in the Summer of 2019, and hold an administrative endorsement for grades 7-12.
My courses during the 2019-2020 school year are:
Intro to FaCS/HSE, Intro to Human Services, Family Interventions and Supports, Careers in Mental Health, Human Growth and Development, Intro to Education, Best Practices in Education, and Child Development. I utilize Google Classroom, Schoology, Nearpod and EverFi Teacher in my classes.
Mrs. Hannah Liptac is our other FaCS teacher at Scottsbluff High School. Her classes include Foods, Advanced Foods, ProStart I and II. As you can see by the extensive classes we are teaching this year, the Family and Consumer Sciences Department at Scottsbluff High School has much to offer all of our students!
I encourage our students and their parents to check out our FaCS department via the website or feel free to contact me for more information.
School districts across our nation are navigating new territory as we prepare to potentially transition to e-learning during the COVID-19 crisis. In anticipation of this, I would like to share with my students and their parents some information about what it will look like to be in Ms. Batterman's virtual "classroom."
Fortunately, my awesome students are used to the hybrid in-class/online learning that I have been implementing. As an example, Google Classroom has been a great tool for us. In addition to Google Classroom, I've added other tools such as EverFi, Nearpod and Remind. Within the coming weeks, I will use Zoom to create more personal opportunities for learning.
I will also be exploring new education applications and collaborating with my fellow educators, which will lead to the use of other virtual tools that may be of benefit to us both now and in the future.
My absolute favorite part of teaching is the relationships I have built in my classroom with my students. They are smart, innovative and resilient, and just as they learn from me, every day I am learning from them. My number one priority is that these relationships continue while we enter this new territory. I am assessible via Remind, Google Classroom and of course email. Zoom will allow us to see one another, and technology will keep us close despite the distance.
Please reach out should you have any questions. Take care of yourselves, follow the recommendations that will help us all remain safe and healthy. You are all so important to me.
I look forward to continuing to learn with you.
