The Communications Department coordinates
a variety of communications with both internal and external audiences at Scottsbluff Public Schools, including news releases and media relations, website, social media, mobile app, newsletters, reports and brochures, annual report and opinion polls.

Media Relations
The Communications Office offers story ideas to the media and responds to media requests. The department is available to help with:
- Writing press releases
- Press conferences, news briefings and special events
- Pitching story ideas to print and broadcast media
- Crisis communications
- Supporting school and district staff with media interviews
- School to home communication

Crisis Communications
The Communications Office also provides principals, site administrators and district staff with guidance during crisis situations. Team members will assist with writing parent letters or phone and text message alerts notifying parents of situations that have occurred at a school, and provides advice about how widely to disseminate such messages and letters.

Marketing
The Communications Office develops the marketing and visual branding of all district programs, schools, and departments. The department assists internal district staff with developing communication plans and strategies for implementation to their various audiences for maximum efficiency and reach.

Interactive and Social Media
The Communications Office designs and maintains the district website and mobile app and assists schools and other departments with design and maintenance of their sites and page content. The office also oversees the district’s Facebook page, Twitter account and all other official forms of district social media, such as YouTube, Instagram, and more.

Multimedia
The Communications Office is responsible for photography, videography, and editing production, covering school and district events and producing internal/external videos for our schools, departments, and the district that are uploaded to the district’s YouTube page or streamed live.

Design
The Communications Office works with schools and departments to design logos, letterhead, posters, brochures, event programs, annual reports, flyers and signage; and serves as a consultant for preparing digital files and print ordering.
