Welcome to Mrs. Foland's 2nd Grade Class
Degrees and Certifications:
Associates Degree - Western Nebraska Community College Bachelors Degree - Chadron State College Masters Degree - Concordia University
This is my 11th year teaching at Westmoor Elementary and I absolutely love my career. I was very lucky to be able to spend 2 years in Westmoor prior to teaching where I got to do my college hours for observation and student teaching. I knew immediately that this was the school I wanted to be a part of!
I am from Gering, Nebraska and am very blessed to be teaching so close to home. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Special Education, from Chadron State College. I also received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction Management from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.
I am the vice-president for our local Scottsbluff Education Association (SEA) and have been enjoying my leadership role working with educators throughout the district and state level traveling to Lincoln for conferences and committees.
I am very passionate about teaching and am always looking for ways to continue my education growth. I participate in many webinars and summer workshops when able.
I am happily married to my husband Joe who works for our Educational Service Unit in behavioral health. We have one miracle daughter named McKinlee who was the result of three different infertility treatments. She is in 1st grade this year and I have absolutely loved having her here at Westmoor with me. We have two furry family members - Roger and Curious George who are the quirkiest cats you'd ever meet!
In my free time you will find me tending to my 30+ houseplants, reading a book, or baking. I also love getting outdoors with my family, yoga, watching movie and drinking coffee!

Parents - please make sure to be checking messages through remind frequently as this is our primary contact for district updates, Nearpod assignments and upcoming telephone conferences.
Please remember to bring tennis shoes with your child on Green and Blue days.
On Thursday we will send home Thursday Folders. These will house notes for school to home communication. Please return folders, forms, homework, etc. with your child the next school day.
2nd grade homework consists of Accelerated Reading and Bridges Math Home Connections. Accelerated Reading (AR) should be done nightly. Our Bridges Math Home Connections correspond with certain lessons and will be sent home 2x a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
I would like my students to read and take AR tests at least 3 times a week and once a week when on chapter books. Homework is expected to be returned the following day unless otherwise noted.
