7 years ago I moved to Scottsbluff from Fort Collins, Colorado. As a native of Colorado I enjoy spending a majority of my time outdoors. I love to hike, camp, snowboard, hang out at the lake, play with my dog, Charlie, and ride my horses, Jay and Jovie. I also love to travel and see the world!
I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and a minor in Elementary Education in 2008. I completed my master's degree in Teaching in June 2013. My husband and I were married in Fort Collins in June 2016. We have an awesome 7-year-old son, Liam and a beautiful baby girl, Tennasyn.
I am so excited for a new school year! This is my 6th year teaching. I have taught fifth grade for all but one year, where I taught third grade. This will be my second year in 6th grade at Bluffs Middle School. I have very high expectations for each and every one of my students in regards to their work effort and behavior. The learning and success of my students is my highest priority.
Parents & Students: The struggle is REAL! I know that many of you are concerned right now about grades and math conceptual understanding. I want to assure you that our new math curriculum is rigorous and challenges students to a higher level of thinking about math. A few tips to help your son or daughter at home.
1. Check Infinite Campus often to avoid falling too far behind.
2. From a student Chromebook, access the curriculum and review the Lesson Summary at the end of each lesson.
3. Students can ALWAYS do any of the practice problems from their Chromebook at any time.
4. Please check out https://www.khanacademy.org/math/illustrative-math
for videos of lessons, written lessons, and practice problems.
5. Work hard and don't give up!
Failure is not defeat until you stop trying!
Mistakes are proof that you are learning!
