Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!
Hi! My name is Ms. Schlagel. This is definitely going to be a new year of learning in many different ways. This is my eighth year at Bluffs Middle School and 14th year in education. As we face many different challenges and ways of learning during this school year, I am so blessed to work for an amazing school district that has amazing leadership, staff, and workers across the district. We are all embracing each other and doing our best to continue providing resources to help families through this new way of learning. I have seen so many of my past and present colleagues that have posted on Social Media so many of these resources for families to utilize. As I know, not everyone has access to social media or the internet. I know there are many individuals working to help each other providing many resources. As we all continue to grow and learn from this experience, I cannot express how grateful I am to be working with an amazing staff. Thank you to everyone for helping us through a difficult time. Our district is sending out messages to families as they have updates. Please reach out to the help listed on that information and I know that everyone is doing their best to help accommodate all students and families. Please take care of yourselves, each other, and take this time to grow together as a family, finding new and interesting facts about each other, learn new things through the resources, and try a new recipe for the family dinner. :)
As I earned my bachelor's at Chadron State College and continuing my education in middle school math and education/technology through WGU, I am thankful for the continued experience of on-line learning myself and applying the information I have learned from my classes to my teaching and finding resources for the students I work with. Working together, we will make it through this unknown time.
Enjoy all the learning in various ways that we will be doing in the year to come. :)
Sometimes, it takes us a little longer to process/grasp the information being taught and learned, but with some time and patience, we will all grow at our own potential.
In the 6th-grade resource room, there are visuals on the walls for reminders of school and classroom expectations and procedures. The resource room is located on the same floor has the core teachers. There is a resource teacher and two paras to provide support and guidance to the 6th-grade team. Students have computers for resources along with a Promethean board that teachers use for displaying and sharing information. We are very fortunate that our staff are able to record classes that students will be able to access for review and for learning. Students can also share with their families so they are able to see how the lesson went and help with students' homework if they need some extra guidance.
