Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to the last quarter of the 2019-2020 school year!
Hi! My name is Ms. Schlagel. As we approach the last quarter of the semester of the 2019-2020 school year, we all are facing a new challenge. While this is my seventh year at Bluffs Middle School and 13th year in education, this is definitely an experience that I will never forget. As we go into the unknown, I am so blessed to work for an amazing school district that has amazing leadership, staff, and workers across the district. We are all embracing each other and going to do our best to continue providing resources to help families through this time of learning at home. I have seen so many of my past and present colleagues that have posted on Social Media so many of these resources for families to utilize. As I know, not everyone has access to social media or the internet. I know there are many individuals working to help each other. As we all continue to grow and learn from this experience, I cannot express how grateful I am to be working with an amazing staff. Thank you to everyone for helping us through a difficult time. Our district is sending out messages to families as they have updates. Please reach out to the help listed on that information and I know that everyone is doing their best to help accommodate all students and families. Please take care of yourselves, each other and take this time to grow together as a family, finding new and interesting facts about each other, new things through the resources and try a new recipe. :)
As I earned my bachelor's at Chadron State College and continuing my education in middle school math and education/technology through WGU, I am thankful for the continued experience of on-line learning myself and applying the information I have learned from my classes to my teaching and finding resources for the students I work with. Working together, we will make it through this unknown time.
Enjoy all the learning in various ways that we will be doing in the weeks to come. :)
Sometimes, it takes us a little longer to process/grasp the information being taught and learned, but with some time and patience, we will all grow at our own potential.
There is a monthly calendar in my room that students utilize to know when assignments are due, when quizzes and tests are coming up, and school functions are occurring.
In the 6th-grade resource room, there are visuals on the walls for reminders of school and classroom expectations and procedures. There are two different rooms that the resource staff can utilize, and that students can utilize for an alternate location, guidance, and support. Students have computers for resources along with a Promethean board that teachers use for displaying and sharing information. We are very fortunate to have a 6th-grade Math Teacher and ELA teacher that records their class and all students from 6th grade can utilize them to review what was previously taught. Students can also share with their families so they are able to see how the lesson went and help with students' homework if they need some extra guidance.
