8th Grade Band Selected as NSBA Convention Guest Performing Group

Nathan LeFeber (Kearney High School Band Director and Past President of NSBA) is proud to announce that the Bluffs Middle School 8th Grade Band, under the direction of Michael A. Koch, has received the honor of being selected as one of five Guest Performing Groups for the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association Convention.

A committee, appointed by NSBA, selected this group of 42 young musicians based on their audition recording, which was submitted in mid-December.

They are one of five ensembles performing.  This is the third time that a band from Bluffs Middle School has been chosen for this honor. (The last being in the year 2016 also directed by Mr. Koch) However, Scottsbluff Public Schools has a long “Tradition of Excellence” … prior to becoming a middle school, bands from Scottsbluff Junior High School performed at the NSBA Convention six times (1970, 1972, 1976, 1978, and 1987) under the direction of Georgene Diers and L. Dean Maxwell.

The NSBA Convention will be held March 3-5 on the University of Nebraska—Lincoln campus.  The Bluffs Middle School 8th Grade Band will perform on Friday, March 4. The concert is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Parents are WELCOME and encouraged to attend this event.

More information will follow as it becomes available.
