Assistant Band Director / Choir Accompanist

Mrs. Koch is currently in her 21st year as Assistant Band Director/Accompanist at BMS. She assists with the 7th & 8th Grade Marching & Concert Bands. She also accompanies both the 7th & 8th Grade Choirs and the BMS Show Choir. 

Mrs. Koch is a native of York, NE. During her high school years, she was Drum Major for 3 years, was selected to the All-State Band for 2 years (Mallet Percussion), and received the John Philip Sousa Band Award for 2 years. Mrs. Koch graduated from York High School in 1985. Mrs. Koch then attended Kearney State College and received a Bachelor's Degree (1989). Her major focus was Instrumental Music.

Mrs. Koch was Assistant Director of the Band Program in Scottsbluff, 7-12 Vocal Music Director in Bridgeport, 5-6 Instrumental Music Director in Fairbury, and K-12 Vocal/Instrumental Music Director in Polk-Hordville, all in Nebraska.

    BMS Bands’ Mid-Winter Concert location has been changed.

     The Concert will be held on Tuesday, February 25

    at the Bluffs Middle School Cafetorium. 

    6th Grade Band will warm-up at 5:30 pm with their Concert following at 6:00 pm

    7th Grade Band will warm-up at 6:30 pm with their Concert following at 7:00 pm

    8th Grade Band will warm-up at 7:30 pm with their Concert following at 8:00 pm

    Paloma Mena-Worth, band instructor at Sunrise Middle School in Kearney, NE, is excited to announce that 12 middle schools in NE will be coming together for the one-time-only Central Nebraska Regional Honor Band which will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 and hosted at Kearney High School. There were 97 students selected for this honor band and Larry MacTaggart, retired chief arranger for the United States Air Force Band, will be the conductor. 

    The following BMS Band students were selected:  Rosie Burkhalter (Clarinet), Charley Devlin (Flute), Teyla Huff (Flute), Jackson Howard (Trombone), Tallon McDonald (Trumpet), Max Meyer (Tuba), Megan Peister (Trumpet), and Abigail Pieper (Bass Clarinet).



      • Students: Your WEEK #24 (2/10-2/16) Practice Sheets are DUE Tuesday, February 18.
        • These WILL NOT be accepted for credit after Friday of the week they are due, so don't forget to turn these in on time to receive full credit!
      • Students: Please record any "At Home" Practice for (2/17 - 2/23) on your Week #25 Practice Sheet ... it will be DUE on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24th.
      • BMS 7th & 8th Grade PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE rehearsals will be held each MONDAY from 7:00 - 7:40 a.m. in the BMS Band Room. (Please ENTER the building through the SOUTH ANNEX Door #12 ... Mrs. Koch will be there to check you in.)
      • BMS 7th & 8th Grade JAZZ BAND rehearsals will be held on TUESDAY & THURSDAY morning from 7:00 - 7:40 a.m. in the BMS Band Room. (Please ENTER the building through the SOUTH ANNEX Door #12 ... Mrs. Koch will be there to check you in.)
    • The Western NE Middle-Level Music Contest will be this SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22 at SHS.
      • A Complete Schedule of the days events will be given to the students on Tuesday and can also be found in Class Documents.


      • BMS 7th & 8th Grade SHOW CHOIR rehearsals will be held each WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY morning from 7:00 - 7:30 a.m. in the BMS Choir Room. (Please ENTER the building through the SOUTH ANNEX Door #12.)
