The newest addition to the District has an official name as the Board voted unanimously to adopt Scottsbluff Public Schools Education Center as the name for the facility located at 2617 College Park. The 177,000 square foot former call center located adjacent to the Western Nebraska Community College campus will house the District's Early Childhood programming, including Bear Cub Preschool and the Sixpence Birth to Three program, as well as other district operations such as I.T., Safety and Security, and the Family Success Center.
The process for naming the building began in May when a committee was formed to collect public input and provide a recommendation to the Board. Suggestions from the public were collected through the month of June, and the committee comprised of Board members, staff, and community members met multiple times to review the suggestions and arrive at a recommended name.
"I would like to thank all of the people who made suggestions for the naming of the building," said Scott Reisig, Board of Education President. "I am also grateful to the members of the building naming committee for their work. This was not an easy task! We are excited for this next step towards serving our early childhood community!"
Renovation for the Early Childhood portion of the facility is scheduled to be completed by August of 2025. |
