4. Five Year Strategic Plan Approved
The Scottsbluff Public Schools Board of Education approved the District’s Five Year Strategic Plan at the June regular meeting outlining a shared vision for the future of SBPS and five strategic priorities that will promote and sustain a focused, high achieving district.
The strategic planning process sought a wide variety of input, including that of students, parents, staff, and community members. Through a variety of methods, participants had the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas on the District's strengths, challenges, and priorities for the future. This culminated in a Strategic Planning Retreat held in April where members of the Board of Education, District Leadership and Certified and Classified Staff members came together in order to create a highly articulated plan based on that feedback. Through this process, five Strategic Priorities were developed:
- Staff Recruitment and Retention
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Upgraded Facilities and Infrastructure
- Safety and Security
- Student Engagement and Achievement
“Scottsbluff Public Schools is grateful for the input that was provided by a significant number of individuals who represent a wide variety of roles within our school district and community. The authentic process of gathering input from those that we serve reflects the District’s desire to ensure our schools are meeting the needs of our students and families not only today, but also in the future. We look forward to the next step of implementing our strategic plan.”
The months-long planning process was facilitated by Jamie Weingart of JNW Consulting. Implementation of the plan will began Fall of 2023 with schools creating specific action plans that align with the Nebraska Department of Education system for accreditation and accountability.
