Scottsbluff Board of Education seeks to fill Vacancy

 

Board vacancyFollowing the resignation of Ralph Paez, the Scottsbluff Board of Education is seeking qualified candidates to fill the vacant position by appointment.  The appointed board member would serve the remainder of Paez’s 4-year term ending in 2026. The Board of Education must fill this vacancy within 45 days of the acceptance of Paez’s resignation, which took place at the April 11 regular meeting.

 

Candidates must reside within the Scottsbluff Public School District and be a registered voter. Any citizen interested in serving who meets the qualifications is invited to apply for the board vacancy, by submitting an application by Friday, April 28, 2023 at 4:00 PM to the Scottsbluff Public Schools District Office.  Applications are available at the SBPS District office or online at www.sbps.net

 

Requirements to be Eligible to Apply for Appointment:

- Minimum 18 Years of Age

- Citizen of Nebraska

- Resident of Scottsbluff Public Schools District 

- Registered Voter

- Not Disqualified by the Constitution or State Law from Holding a Civil Office

 

The timeline to conduct the appointment will be as follows:

 

Wednesday, April 12th - Application Window Opens, notice of vacancy published on the District website and provided to the newspaper of record for publication. 

 

Friday, April 28th - Applications must be received in the District Office by 4:00 PM via postal mail, or hand-delivered.

 

Week of May 8th -  Board of Education Special Meeting for Appointment to fill Board Member Vacancy.  Agenda includes Public Comment, Applicant Interviews, Board Discussion and Vote.

 

Week of May 22nd - Special Board of Education Meeting, Administration of Oath of Office and Seating of Appointee.
