Cassandra Nickens, PTP Room Teacher
Cassandra is a 2000 graduate of Scottsbluff High School. She attended WNCC as a student-athlete from 2000-2002 and returned 8 years later to finish with an AA in General Studies. In 2014, she began working at BMS as a special education para in the Learning Center and found her niche in education. She enrolled through Western Governors University in 2016 and completed an Interdisciplinary Studies degree (K-8) in November 2018. The following semester, she began teaching at BMS as an Interventionist. Her love for learning pushed her to re-enroll at Western Governors University in June 2019 to persue her Master of Science in Special Education degree (K-12) and completed it in August of 2020. She heads up the PAWS Transition Room at BMS, working with students in 6th-8th grades, gleaning an emphasis on Social Emotional Learning. This will be the first full year with the program and she is looking forward to working with students and helping them successfully progress through their middle school careers.
She has been married for 15 years, has two children, and resides in Mitchell. She enjoys spending time with her family and her cats (:)) You will find her in her backyard attending to the fish pond and many plants and BBQ'ing on the patio.
