Senior High Student Selected!

Global Youth Institute Announces Selection

Margaret Baker, a student at Scottsbluff High School, has been selected as one of 200 students world-wide to participate in the Hank Beachell Fellows Program and Global Youth Institute which will be held in Des Moines, Iowa from October 15-17, 2009. The competition for this institute requires the writing of an in-depth paper on National Responses to Food Insecurity. Cassie Behnke, a high school teacher, will attend the meeting with Margaret as her sponsoring teacher.

During the conference, Margaret and Ms. Behnke will meet and interact with Nobel and World Food Prize laureates from more than 65 countries. Margaret will then be competing for the prestigious Borlaug-Raun International Internship which is an all-expense paid eight-week hands-on experience working with world-renowned scientists and policymakers at leading research centers in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
