Shelby Aaberg, high school math teacher, has been selected as the Nebraska Advanced Placement Teacher of the Year as determined by the College Board, who coordinates AP activities, and Siemens Foundation. As one of 50 teachers honored nationally, Scottsbluff High School will receive a $1,000 grant to be used to support math and science education. Names of all recipients were featured in the USA Today on Monday, February 22, 2010.
Established in 1998, the Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement exemplify the strong partnership between the Siemens Foundation and the College Board to expand and strengthen the pool of math, science and technology talent that we will need for the continued growth of business and industry in the United States and globally. The Siemens Foundation provides more than $7million annually in support of educational initiatives in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math in the United States.
