New Entrance at SHS Dedicated During Ceremony
January 07, 2008
The Board of Education, administration, staff and students along with patrons from the district joined together Monday morning for a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the new entrance. The ceremony began with the high school pep band playing the school song, followed by a welcome from Mr. Nighswonger, and comments from Board President Bob Kinsey.
"Six months ago, the Scottsbluff Public School Board of Education approved the new West entrance addition for Scottsbluff High School along with two new class rooms and two meeting rooms," said Kinsey. "These additions not only improve the appearance of the school, it improves building security, student safety, and the learning environment. These new additions are for the students, staff, parents, and community."
Kinsey went on to thank the contractor, Stewart Rusch and Rusch Construction and the many sub-contractors who put in countless hours; our Architects, Schemmer and Associates, and Baker and Associates; high school administration, secretaries, and staff; Superintendent Dr. Reynolds and Director of Business Services Bill Knapper; and the Scottsbluff Public Schools Foundation.
Karen Anderson from the United Chamber of Commerce presented the school with a plaque and told those attended that it was important to "invest in our future."
The ceremony ended with the band playing the school song.
