SHS STUDENTS SELECTED FOR ALL-STATE MUSIC PERFORMANCE
November 07, 2007
Each year, over 2000 of the best high school musicians in the state audition for the Nebraska All-State Band, Chorus, Jazz Band, and Orchestra, sponsored by the Nebraska Music Educators Association. Selection as a member of one of these groups is one of the highest musical honors attainable in Nebraska. Scottsbluff High School had two students selected for the All-State Band, and six chosen for the choir, with six more chosen as alternates.
Morgan Weitzel was selected for Bass Clarinet, and Brooke Brown was selected for the third year in a row, all years she was eligible, for Clarinet. In All-State Choir, Emily Burkey, Sandy Shedd, Amy Svitak, Nathan Gillen, David Stein, and Jackson Pahlke were selected. Alternates for the choir selected from SHS were Breanna Elley, Emily Holscher, Rachel Harvey, Morgan Pieper, Joe Kozal, and Paul Foster.
The groups will rehearse Thursday, November 15th through Saturday, November 17th at UNL. A final public concert will be held on Saturday, November 17th, at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts on UNL’s campus.
