SHS DRILL TEAM TAKES HOME AWARDS

This summer, the Scottsbluff High School Drill team brought home many top honors when they traveled to Wesleyan University in Lincoln to participate in the NDA summer dance camp.

The team received a superior rating on their home routine, a superior showmanship award, second place in the team dance competition, and first place in the team leader dance competition. The team also received the NDA Team Award. This award is the top honor handed out by the NDA staff to the team that epitomizes a dance team in showmanship, work ethic, technique and over and teamwork.

Three All-Americans from SHS.

In addition to the team awards, 23 Blue Superior Ribbons were given for individual evaluations, and 1 Red Excellent ribbon was given for individual evaluations. There were four All-American Nominees: Keisha Salazar, Brittany Nation, Laura Abbott, and Ashley Hanna. Three All-Americans were chosen: Keisha Salazar, Brittany Nation, and Laura Abbott.

“These girls represented Scottsbluff in a fantastic way in Lincoln,” commented drill team sponsor Angie Hinze. “There were nine teams and Lincoln Southeast was the only team to beat Scottsbluff. I was very proud of the girls in their efforts, behavior, and overall dedication to the drill team.”

The SHS Drill Team was also given a bid to compete in the national dance competition in Orlando, Florida this winter.
