SHS Students Perform in Europe

     During the month of June, 23 high school students from the panhandle traveled with the Nebraska Ambassadors of Music to Europe.  Seven of the students were from Scottsbluff High School.  Zachary Durbin, Kerry Halte, Mackensie Keder, Amy Krichau, Andrew Lacy, Molly Meister, and Zach Spurgeon joined 350 other Nebraska students for the 2007 European Concert Tour under the direction of Don and Barbara Johnson of Fremont.

The 2007 Nebraska Ambassadors of Music Concert Bands perform in the town square in Rothenburg, Germany.

The tour traveled to England, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy and Germany.  Three two concert bands and one concert choir performed in each city that they stayed.  While touring, the students were also given many opportunities to learn about the history and culture of each country.

     In order to qualify for this honor, the students must be a good citizen, posses good musical skills, and show good leadership ability.

The 2007 Nebraska Ambassadors of Music Choir performs in the Franciscan Church in Rothenburg, Germany.

     Michael A. Koch, Director of Bluffs Middle School Bands, accompanied the group and has been a member of the ambassador staff for the past five years.  Mr. Koch has traveled to Europe three times with the group.
