SCOTTSBLUFF PUBLIC SCHOOLS EMPLOYEE WELLNESS

June 01, 2007
Scottsbluff Public Schools implemented Employee Wellness in April 2004, initially with a Walking Works program. Since that time we've expanded and have done various wellness campaigns that are open to all Scottsbluff Public Schools staff, foster grandmothers, and substitutes. Participation has been really good (anywhere from 30% to 40%) and very successful.
We just finished up with a 2007 Spring campaign called "Walk It Off". Participants accumulated 52,356,484 steps in the months of March, April & May. Quite an accomplishment for SBPS walkers!
With our new web site, the wellness page(s) will be updated with weekly news and information about our programs. The campaign brochures, walking logs and news are all available on our web site under "wellness".
In the past we have incorporated other things besides walking in to our program. Our previous campaign "Fit For Life" touched base on physical activity, segments on nutrition, sleep, organization, social relationships, stress and laughter. Last Fall was "The Fall Health Challenge", again, the brochure and information are viewable under "wellness/employee".
SBPS Wellness participants are awarded with incentives, prizes and lots of encouragement to "get active, stay active" and "lead healthier lifestyles"!
Please browse through the Wellness site for more information and to learn how you can become an active SBPS Wellness Participant or contact Lori Littell in Administration at (308) 635-6207 or llittell@sbps.net!
