Longfellow: Site Council

Longfellow Elementary Site Council

Members

March 05, 2007

Each attendance center in the Scottsbluff Public School System will implement a School Site Council. The primary purpose of each site council is to involve parents, building staff members, business representatives, and students (where appropriate) in an advisory capacity to their respective building. These site councils will be geared toward community and parent membership rather than school staff. Council members will review, discuss, and analyze information regarding school improvement initiatives, academic performance levels of students, community relation issues, discipline guidelines and attendance guidelines. They will also help determine strategies to achieve building goals, serve as a liaison between the school, school organizations, the community and the board of education as well as provide any other assistance the school may request. The council will not have any of the powers or duties reserved by law or regulation to the local school board, but will provide an annual report to the board of education of any goals, activities, achievements, and other contributions to the school. School Site Councils will operate as open meetings with visitors allowed to attend, but not participate.
